Color, Size and Shape:Thin film cells have advantages over their thick-film counterparts because the much lesser material is being used. The cell’s active area is usually only 1 to 10 micrometers thick, whereas thick films typically are 100 to 300 micrometers thick. Also, thin-film cells can usually be manufactured in a large-area process, which can be an automated, continuous production process. Finally, they can be deposited on flexible substrate materials such as Glass- Metal – Polymer.Thin-film PVs are available with different qualities e.g. flexible and light weight form – opaque or semitransparent. Similarly modules are available with different colors ranging from brown/ orange to purple black with lines or marks on the surface.The efficiency of a standard amorphous silicon cell is from 4% -12% but some manufactures are producing more efficient modules.
